What is the purpose of thermography ?

The purpose of thermography is to reveal areas that are overheating so as to detect and foresee electrical device failure.
By using this service, you are in effect performing preventive maintenance on your electrical installations, thus enabling detection of potential problems such as :

  • deterioration;
  • surges;
  • phase unbalance;
  • incorrect tightening;
  • improper crimping;
  • oxidation;
  • inappropriate circuit-breaker;

Groupe Baillargeon bases its criteria for assessment of abnormal heating on a methodology developed by an experienced firm based on the following regulations, accepted practices in the industry, standards and framework :

  • SNT-TC-1A : ASNT Recommendations
  • CSA Z462 : Workplace Electrical Safety
  • NFPA 70B : Recommended practice for electrical equipment maintenance
  • ASTM E1934 : Standard guide for examining electrical and mechanical equipment with infrared thermography

Thereafter, you will receive a full inspection report, including localized problems, infrared pictures, detailed analysis and proposal of actions to be taken.
